tofusmell’s Humor: Available June 30th
Hardly Art has signed tofusmell, the recording project from Orlando, Florida musician and singer Rae Chen, and will release Humor, their first EP for the label, on all DSPs worldwide on June 30th, 2023. Humor, which includes the singles “Basil Noodles” and “Keith,” was produced and mixed by tofusmell at Rae’s Home in Winter Garden, Florida, and mastered by Sarah Register in New York. It follows the release of “Shower Song,” released last year as part of the label’s 15th Anniversary Singles Series.

Inspired by 90s indie-folk music and Rae's own 2012 emo phase, the artsy acoustic sounds of tofusmell originals speak to Rae's life as a trans, queer POC. Rae uses poetry influences in his emotive lyricism to comment on themes like gender, religion, and love.
